'Metalcore' is still trying as heard on the new Cataract release 'Kingdom' which should be another reminder of how great 'metalcore' died awhile back, we're talking almost a decade now. 'Kingdom' is the last Cataract album; it's also the other album you heard last month and even the one last week.
Cataract might have had something good going on with their past releases which are now forgotten given 'Kingdom' is the negation of all of that. This stuff makes me wonder exactly what the hell is going on with a band when they decide to put extremely cliché parts in their songs that they know are just that. Little makes sense anymore and while Cataract did have some decent songs in the past, they no longer have that tiniest bit of interest provoking material.
Like Cataract having problems finding new ways to make a breakdown or a gallop bridge, it's hard for me to gather the words that could really give you anymore insight as to what this release is like. Trust your own judgment of the current over saturation that's been going on and decide for yourself as to how you would like to think of 'Kingdom' and my words will be said for me.
