Krokus is back! Well actually they never really left, they've been making albums pretty much consistently since 1976. It's difficult to say who came first, Krokus or AC/DC, since both have been around since the mid-seventies but the brand of rock that both bands play is pretty similar. Though it is rumored that Krokus did start as a progressive rock act more in the vein of Yes and changed its musical direction because of AC/DC's success.

'Hellraiser' (not to be confused with the Motorhead song or the movie) Krokus' latest release is no exception. It has a very AC/DC trashy 80's rock sound to it. Except the song 'Hangman' which is actually a somewhat tender ballad still in the 80's rock vein and 'Angel of My Dreams' which does show the bands progressive rock roots. Most of the songs though are like 'Fight On' and the title track which have simple radio rock verses and chanted, repeated choruses. The singer uses the high pitched raspy Brain Johnson style vocals on this song though we learn on 'Hangman' that he has slightly wider range than that.

Over all Krokus is great if you like to relive the 80's rock sound otherwise its sounds a little re-hash.
