Switzerland's answer to AC/DC, the anthem fueled bad boys Krokus, turn in a show stopping live performance here on this much anticipated live double CD, 'Fire And Gasoline' The music sounds fantastic on this well produced collection, however the canned crowd noise can grow to be a bit irritating when turned up super loud during several parts of each song. You can hear the fans screaming, but not singing along and this is what makes it sound just a slight bit doctored up. It's all in good fun, however, this is a live album, so what in the world did you expect, anyway? The band kicks this live set off with the rollicking fist banger 'Heatstroke' which rolls right into 'Mad World' where vocalist Marc Storace really belts it out. The group takes on a solid cover of 'American Woman' and guitarist Fernando Von Arb obviously has a bit of fun with this one. Krokus plows through hits like 'Tokyo Nights' and 'Stayed Awake All Night' with a new found feel that belies their strong stage performance. These tracks were laid down at the Sweden Rock Festival during the group's 2003 Rock The Block European tour and for a live recording the sound is fantastic. 'Fire' features a wonderful breakdown where you can hear the crowd clapping along as Von Arb lets go with some fine guitar work that shows both skill and showmanship. The crowd really gets into a particularly grooving version of 'Screaming In The Night' as well. This song always goes over very well for the band live, being one of the most popular originals in the group's extensive recording career. Things really light up with a white knuckled version of 'Rock The Block', with its inciting vox and hellfire guitar soloing. 'Long Stick Goes Boom' is well represented here and the group's 'Eat The Rich' still hands up to any Bon Scott era AC/DC anthem. The only disappointment is the apparent lack of an appearance of the band's version of Sweet's 'Ballroom Blitz', which was likely the most popular tune by Krokus stateside. Aside from that misnomer, it's a very impressive collection of well loved tracks that is easily one of the better live offerings you'll come across. Guaranteed to have you singing along all night long, Fire And Gasoline is a winner all the way.
