Subgenres:

This is perhaps the best melodic death metal debut album of 2003. Formed three years ago in Greece by ex-Exhumation guitarist Marios Iliopoulos with acclaimed guitarist, friend, and countryman Gus G. (Dream Evil, Firewind, Mystic Prophecy), the idea for NIGHTRAGE was imported into Gothenburg, Sweden where the line-up was finalized with the addition of the long-revered ex-At The Gates vocalist Tomas Lindberg (Lock Up, The Great Deceiver, formerly of The Crown), the esteemed clean vocalist Tom S. Englund (Evergrey), The Haunted's infamous Per M. Jensen on drums, and the talented Frenchman Brice Leclercq on bass. With such notorious talent in one band and the incorporation of the now institutionalized, harmonizing twin guitar approach, all fans of Swedish death metal will fail any attempts to resist this new addiction. Metal Hammer has rightfully proclaimed it to be "the first legitimate follow-up to At The Gates' milestone Slaughter Of The Soul. Totally worth waiting eight years for. 7 out of 7."
Honoring tradition, the band entered the famous halls of Studio Fredman with Arch Enemy/In Flames/Opeth producer Fredrik Nordström in September of 2002 to record an offering of sophisticated savagery fit for those who both appreciate and greatly miss the phenomenal contributions of one of Gothenburg's greatest bands, At The Gates. Featuring artwork by Dark Tranquillity guitarist Niklas Sundin, Sweet Vengeance is a cascade of repressed rage finally given life, filled with fists of sound dedicated to retaliation and fueled by scathing lyrical passages that most people only fantasize of screaming aloud into the faces of their enemies. For those dedicated to retribution, you simply cannot go wrong with the aggression that fuels "The Tremor," "Macabre Apparition," and "The Glow Of The Setting Sun."
When the world turns against you and you find yourself buried in struggle, pain, and despair, there is always music to carry you through such hardship. Waiting for you in the light at the end of the tunnel is NIGHTRAGE. To deal with those who have conspired and inflicted ill will against you, take heed: Gather your strength and draw inspiration from bitter, sweet vengeance
